THE FOLLOWING POSITIONS ARE ALL PAID POSITIONS WITH A NEGOTIABLE PAY RATE. IGNITE THEATRE COMPANY HAS SECURED THE RIGHTS AND IS LOOKING FOR PAID CREATIVES FOR THE FOLLOWING PRODUCTIONS/PROGRAMS:

SOME THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW

  • We are a nonprofit theatre and have limited financial resources. We offer competitive stipend to contractors, and pay is negotiable.
  • All shows hold open auditions – we don’t “pre-cast” roles. That said, directors are responsible for casting their shows. If you know someone you think would be great for a role, invite them to audition. We ask directors to keep an open mind.

POSITIONS 

PART TIME- Grant Writer will identify, define and develop funding sources to support existing and planned program activities as well as lead the development, writing, and

submission of grant proposals to federal, state, and private funding agencies. 

PART TIME-Join Ignite Theatre Company as a Communications Assistant and help us spread the magic of theatre through engaging content and strategic communication strategies. Bring your passion for the arts and communication skills to our team and play a pivotal role in promoting our productions and connecting with our audience.

PART TIME- FRONT DESK/Facility Coordinator us as the welcoming face of Ignite Theatre Company’s new location, where you’ll greet visitors, manage inquiries, and assist with ticket sales and administrative tasks to ensure a positive experience for all patrons and participants.

THE IGNITE HIRING PROCESS HAS TWO PARTS:

  • A one-paragraph letter of introduction. Even if you’ve directed here before, some members of our executive staff may not know you yet, personally or professionally.
  • Phone and email for two to three References. Ideally, these should be people who have worked with you as a director and can speak to your collaboration style, theatrical skill sets, reliability, and insight.

If the committee thinks your proposal fits Ignite well, we will invite you for an interview.

PART 2:  Interviews will be held by invitation only.
Final Selection: Based on the combination of your vision for the script and interview, the executive staff may choose to recommend you to fill a creative role in our 2022 season. Final decisions or offers cannot be made until the Board approves. As we move along, we will try to let directors know the status of their proposals. Please review the final section, “Some Things You Should Know.”

JOB DESCRIPTIONS

COSTUMER:

Overview: Join our creative team for Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella as a Costume Designer and bring your passion for storytelling through clothing. We embrace a body-neutral approach, celebrating diversity in all forms on stage.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with the director, choreographer, and production team to design costumes that enhance character development and support the overall vision of the production.
  • Source, create, or modify costumes for a large cast of performers aged 8-21, ensuring comfort, functionality, and visual appeal while adhering to budgetary constraints.
  • Conduct fittings, oversee costume alterations, and maintain accurate costume plots and records throughout the rehearsal and performance process.
  • Provide guidance and support to wardrobe crew members during rehearsals and performances, ensuring quick changes are executed smoothly.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in costume design for theatre productions, preferably with experience working with young performers.
  • Strong understanding of costume construction techniques, fabric selection, and historical/cultural costume research.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, creative environment, demonstrating flexibility and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to a body-neutral approach, embracing diversity and inclusivity in costume design.

Pre-Requisites:

  • A dependable vehicle or other mode of transport.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Proven understanding of costume design and an ability to communicate design elements visually.
  • Proven understanding of sewing.
  • Ability to coordinate with Ignite’s Staff & identify performance/equipment needs.
  • Ability to work with children of all ages and their families.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • If hired, attend one training session before production. Training sessions will be held at a mutually agreeable date. This training session is mandatory.
  • A “yes-and” attitude!

*Please note Ignite is a nonprofit theatre and has limited financial resources. We offer a stipend to contractors, and listed pay is negotiable. Pay will vary by production.

Salary: $850.00 – $1,000.00 per project

    Lighting Designer/Board Op 

    Overview: Step into the spotlight as the Lighting Designer for Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella and illuminate the enchanting world of fairy tales on stage. We embrace a body-neutral approach, celebrating diversity in all forms of artistic expression.

    Responsibilities:

    • Collaborate closely with the director, set designer, and production team to create lighting designs that enhance mood, atmosphere, and storytelling for the production.
    • Design and program lighting cues that highlight the performances of a large cast of performers aged 8-21, ensuring seamless transitions and visual coherence.
    • Oversee the installation, operation, and maintenance of lighting equipment throughout rehearsals and performances, ensuring safety and efficiency.
    • Provide guidance and support to lighting crew members during technical rehearsals and performances, ensuring the artistic vision is executed effectively.

    Requirements:

    • Proven experience in lighting design for theatre productions, with a strong portfolio showcasing your creativity and technical expertise.
    • Proficiency in lighting design software (e.g., ETC EOS family, GrandMA), and familiarity with current lighting technologies and trends.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively in a dynamic, creative environment, demonstrating flexibility and problem-solving skills.
    • Commitment to a body-neutral approach, promoting inclusivity and diversity in lighting design.

    Set Design/Builder 

    Overview: Join our creative team as the Set Designer for Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella and help craft the magical world of this beloved fairy tale on stage. We embrace a body-neutral approach, celebrating diversity in artistic expression and representation.

    Responsibilities:

    • Collaborate closely with the director, lighting designer, and production team to design sets that enhance the storytelling and visual aesthetics of the production.
    • Create detailed set designs, including sketches, models, and plans, that align with the director’s vision and accommodate the needs of a large cast of performers aged 8-21.
    • Oversee the construction, decoration, and installation of set pieces, ensuring they are safe, functional, and visually compelling.
    • Work with scenic artists, carpenters, and other crew members to bring the set designs to life, ensuring quality and adherence to budgetary constraints.

    Requirements:

    • Proven experience in set design for theatre productions, with a strong portfolio showcasing your creativity and technical skills.
    • Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp) and a strong understanding of construction techniques and materials.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively in a dynamic, creative environment, demonstrating flexibility and problem-solving skills.
    • Commitment to a body-neutral approach, promoting inclusivity and diversity in set design.

    Technical Director 

    Overview: Become the guiding force behind the scenes as the Technical Director for Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella. Lead our technical team in creating seamless and captivating productions while embracing a body-neutral approach that celebrates diversity in theatrical expression.

    Responsibilities:

    • Collaborate closely with the director, designers, and production team to oversee all technical aspects of the production, ensuring the realization of the artistic vision.
    • Manage the planning, coordination, and execution of all technical elements, including set construction, lighting, sound, and special effects.
    • Supervise and support technical crew members during rehearsals and performances, providing guidance to ensure safety, efficiency, and artistic integrity.
    • Coordinate with external vendors and contractors as needed to procure materials, equipment, and services within budgetary constraints.

    Requirements:

    • Proven experience as a Technical Director or in a similar role in theatre production, with a strong portfolio showcasing your leadership and technical expertise.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of theatrical production techniques, equipment, and safety protocols.
    • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
    • Commitment to fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment, promoting diversity and equity in technical theatre.
