Far, far away in Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella: Enchanted Edition
Synopsis of R&H Cinderella: Enchanted Edition
Step into a world of magic and wonder with Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella: Enchanted Edition! This timeless fairy tale, beloved by generations, comes to life with unforgettable songs, charming characters, and a heartwarming message about the power of kindness and believing in your dreams. In this enchanted version, the classic story of Cinderella is brought to life with a fresh take on the original 1957 television production, which starred Julie Andrews. With beautiful ballads like “In My Own Little Corner” and “Do I Love You Because You’re Beautiful?”, this family-friendly musical reminds us that even the most impossible dreams can come true.
Plot Overview:
The story begins in the kingdom of the Prince, where Cinderella, a kind and beautiful young woman, lives with her wicked stepmother and two stepsisters. She is treated cruelly and forced to do all the housework. Despite her difficult life, Cinderella remains hopeful and kind-hearted.
The Prince, who longs to marry someone who loves him for who he is, decides to hold a royal ball. Invitations are sent out to all eligible women in the kingdom, and Cinderella’s stepsisters eagerly prepare, hoping to win the Prince’s heart. Cinderella also dreams of going to the ball, but her stepmother forbids it, insisting that she stay home and finish her chores.
However, Cinderella’s fairy godmother appears and magically transforms her, giving her a beautiful gown, glass slippers, and a carriage. The fairy godmother also warns Cinderella that the magic will wear off at midnight. Cinderella attends the ball, and the Prince is immediately smitten by her. They dance and share a magical evening together, but just as the clock strikes midnight, Cinderella must flee, leaving behind one of her glass slippers.
The next day, the Prince sets out to find the woman whose foot fits the glass slipper. After a series of unsuccessful attempts with the other women in the kingdom, he arrives at Cinderella’s house. Her stepsisters try on the slipper, but it doesn’t fit. Finally, Cinderella tries it on, and it fits perfectly. The Prince realizes that she is the one he loves.
In the end, Cinderella and the Prince are married, and she is lifted from her life of servitude to become the Princess. The musical concludes with a message of love and hope, as Cinderella’s kindness and goodness are rewarded.
Join us for an enchanting evening filled with romance, laughter, and magical transformations that will leave you spellbound. Perfect for audiences of all ages, Cinderella: Enchanted Edition is a delightful reminder that a little kindness and courage can lead to the happiest of endings!
We hope you enjoy the show, and thank you for supporting the arts!
